How To Choose The Right Banner
Whether you are advertising a sale at a retail store or attempting to attract new restaurant patrons, signs and banners are a great way to lure in new business. Outside of sales and advertising, banners are a great way to celebrate a special occasion, like a birthday, or show support for loved ones during a race, sporting event, or other milestone. It’s a simple yet effective solution that has worked for decades.
Choosing sign material seems like it should be a straightforward process. But if you sit down to do it, you may find that its not such an easy decision to make. Here are some of the most common types of banner materials:
- Vinyl
- Mesh Vinyl
- Adhesive Vinyl
- Polyester Fabric
- Canvas
With so many materials to choose from, how do you make sure you select the best type? It really boils down to your intentions and vison for your banner or sign. Is the banner going to be indoors or outdoors? Doi different materials have better ink compatibility for certain colors? Have you decided between vinyl vs fabric banners?
At IGG Screen Printing & Graphics our most popular banner material is mesh vinyl, which has waterproof and fade resistant qualities. Mesh vinyl had tiny holes in it, which allows air to pass through and makes the material more breathable. Because of this mesh quality, mech vinyl has a loner lifespan than traditional vinyl. Another advantage of mesh vinyl is that its wind resistant. As air passes though the holes, it moves quietly and prevents the banner from flapping in the wind. That makes this material perfect if you are looking to hang a fence banner.
On your vinyl banner IGG uses an additional product made by Budnick called “banner ups.” This product offers a simple and inexpensive alternative to grommets in fabricating super strong banners of any length. Banner Ups are a foam adhesive, that bond to virtually all banner materials. The Banner Ups unique shape allows them to be applies at different corner angles as well as along the top and sides of banners.
Along with the Banner Ups tabs, we also use the Banner Ups PowerTape. This material is made of a heavy-duty film, that takes the place of hemming and grommeting the banner.
Once you purchase your banner, we suggest hanging the banner with 12’ rubber bungy cords.
